2011 Fall Schedule
 
We meet Mondays at the bottom floor of Rockefeller Hall, Vassar College, at 7 p.m, unless otherwise noted.
Formal play starts at 7:30.
Tournaments with entry fees will be submitted for ratings to the United States Chess Federation, and USCF membership is required for participation in these tournaments.  We can process your application for USCF membership.
Byes available for all rounds, except that last round byes must be announced before the second to last round.
All tournament information is subject to change.
 

September 12, 19 and 26: September Swiss
 Format: 3 Round Swiss, 1 game per night at Game 90
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 Prizes:  Trophies for first place overall and for first place in any class with 4 or more players
 

October 3:  October Quick Swiss
 Format:   5 Round Swiss, Game 15
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 

Saturday, October 8: Dutchess County National Chess Day Tournament
 
Format:  4 round Swiss G/40 (Clocks to be set at Game 40 regardless of whether there is a 5 second delay per move)
 Sections: Rated and non-member (USCF membership not required for non-member section)
 Entry Fee:  $5.00 (free to students under 23 years old)
 Registration:  9:00 -9:30AM or RSVP to chess@vassar-chadwick.com
 Round times:  9:45, 11:30, 1:30, 3:15
 Byes:   limit one .5 point bye, must commit before round 3. For first round byes, send request to chess@vassar-chadwick.com
 Awards: Rated Section: Trophies to First and Second Place
      Choice of chess book awarded to Third place, top U1600, top U1300, and top U1000
   Non-member section Trophy for first place
      Choice of chess book awarded to First, Second and Third place

Players should bring a board, pieces, a clock, and a pen/pencil. Scoresheets will be provided.  A very limited supply of other tournament equipment will be available on site.
 
Players are encouraged to submit a copy of their game to the TD upon completion of the round. Even if a copy is not available, the TD can input and save the game and return the scoresheet by the end of the tournament.
 
All submitted games will be analyzed with the help of a chess engine and published online.
 

October 10 (Columbus Day): Unrated Blitz
 
October 17, 24 and 31: Fall Quads
 Format: Quads, 1 game per night at Game 60
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 
November 7 and 14:  November Swiss
 Format: 4 Round Swiss, 2 games per night, Game 30
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 Prizes:   Trophies for first place overall and for first place in any class with 4 or more players
 
November 21:   Thanksgiving Blitz
 Format: Round Robin Blitz, Game 5
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 
November 28:  Unrated Blitz
 
December 5, 12 and 19: December Swiss
 Format: 3 Round Swiss, 1 game per night, Game 90
 Entry Fee: $5.00
 Prizes:  Trophies for first place overall and first place in any class with 4 or more players
 
December 26:  (No chess event scheduled)
