Vassar-Chadwick Home Page
The Vassar-Chadwick is one of the more active chess clubs in the Hudson Valley. We have a wide variety of skill levels ranging from beginner to master and casual player to serious tournament player. We encourage you to visit our club and play chess! Check out the about us page to find out when and where to pay us a visit.
While tournaments are the major activity, other activities include visits from GMs, league play, teams, and inter-club matches. Recently Jennifer Shahade (Oct. 15, 2005) visited the club and played 40 people. She won 36, lost 2 and drew 2! More importantly, she won the hearts of Poughkeepsie. Other visitors included Boris Spassky and Roman Dzindichasvilli.
Pictured is Craig Fisher, member since 1973, and past President, on & off for about 20 years. Craig is actually contemplating a chess move but a friendly web master inserted a little setup. :-)
